The beginning of our spring is goin’ an awful way
Instead of packin’ our coats we’re throwin’ ‘em on today
The destination’s the same, we’re just goin’ the longer way
It’s alright now, it’s just snowin’ on my parade
You know spring in Minnesota like a mastodon
In block of ice with her sunglasses on
it’s like santa claus with his sandals on
hits 45 degrees and we’re plannin’ on
these long walks, bike rides and barbecues
with the kids, the stiffs and all the artists too
its been a tough winter and we’ve had it long
get a glimpse of the green before they addin’ on
to the meltin’ snow before it hardly grew
grabbin’ on to the visions our heart would choose
step to go to fun you would start to do
no jacket on, but what I can impart to you
when the cold hesitates and you feel the imminent kiss
from spring’s eminent lips pucker up for an ignorant dis
cuz when you run out for the sun like lickety split
is right when you step out to that wintery mix
The beginning of our spring is goin’ an awful way
Instead of packin’ our coats we’re throwin’ ‘em on today
The destination’s the same, we’re just goin’ the longer way
It’s alright now, it’s just snowin’ on my parade
we’re minnesnowtans, and we be singin’ let it snow
but when its ten below at de mayo we gotta tell ‘em let it go
ok it wasn’t that cold for cinco but those little warns
from weather channel were talkin’ about some winter storms
just the week before seein’ what them jeeps are for
sleet and four inches of snow pourin’ on the streets galore
jeez, my lord, ease our poor miserable lives
these days have created such cynical eyes
we gettin’ beat down, still face the day puttin’ our feet down
to the concrete jumpstart the heart heat now
“they say next week is in the 50’s”
the next day, hittin’ 30 is iffy it’s getting’ gritty
bustin’ out the grill in the 40’s is just rebellin’
we tunin’ out the forecast and all the temps they tellin’
It’s outta wack, outta balance it’s all absurd
Turn the readio off, ain’t tryin’ to hear no Paul Huttner
The beginning of our spring is goin’ an awful way
Instead of packin’ our coats we’re throwin’ ‘em on today
The destination’s the same, we’re just goin’ the longer way
It’s alright now, it’s just snowin’ on my parade

You know the type
Roll at night take a chance
Just to roll the dice
Even though he know he can’t roll ‘em right
Dolemite, in his head but he old and stale
You know this well
Hit 30 lookin’ old as hell
S’been 15 years since cold and pale
15 minutes he’ll be goin’ to jail
Overnight like a hotel even hold his cell
Po’s ask for name’s and he’s goin’ to tell
Wholesale ain’t a wholesome sale
hustle all day makin’ no sales drinkin’ potent ale
float like foam to the top of a crab barrel
slick with a plot of an unplanned peril
dangerous with schemes and tactics unhatchin’
hit the scene like a rat with sunglasses
“hey man, you wanna shot? wanna blaze this?
you wanna taste? By the way my name is…”
he’s 45 with no job and no vision
steady slobbin’, no style no wisdom
he was the “go to” in college
now those kids have grown up
and now they all know better
than to hang with no shmuck
A trashcan, a trashed man at a bus stop
Like the sandman hit a grandslam or what not
dreamin’ when awake not creativelay
I’m talkin’ ‘bout hallucinations that stay that way
My minds playin’ tricks on me playin’ on repeat
The streets are talkin’, and they ain’t been discreet
Walkin’ down the ave with those pilots on
Now he cookin’ with gas without the pilot on
rolli’n to the wendy’s with friends for gas money
Sellin’ joints to get drunk still hungry
He got a tight crew of hype dudes
‘mean hypes not dope doped up bring somethin’ to put a light to
You could put their life stories in a haiku
Put a pipe to what they might do
Livin’ like in high school
Same style same prowl
On the same grounds
Bumpin’ scratched cd’s with the same sounds
There’s a war outside no one is safe from
You’ll get an offer for some powders or a dank bud
Mushrooms, acid, needles til the days done
Wakin’ with the junkies still buggin’ til ain’t fun
Then graduate dodgin’ bullets from a paint gun
To a real one, addiction got you divin’ to your fate
What’s fun in the shadows, in the day looks funky
What feels good when your 20, when your 30 looks crusty
he’s 45 with no job and no vision
steady slobbin’, no style no wisdom
he was the “go to” in college
now those kids have grown up
and they all know better
than to hang with no shmuck

We are beautiful, frail and powerful
… they don’t like the way we grow
… say we tryin’ to take control
…the gardens that grow
...diggin’ in the dirt
the gardens that grow don’t happen on accident
roots run deep and get tapped into madness
like we’re mappin’ the grandest but we ‘re plantin’ the sadnesses
steady uproot and be scrappin the tannest kids
trapped in a land that gives frantic and panicked attacks
see our seeds rise sayin’ “send ‘em all travelin’ back”
mad and they adamant that stolen land is owned won’t be handin’ it back
but couldn’t last in our absences and
keep us around but won’t be havin’ the classes mix
roses are reserved for the gardens of palaces
but what’s a rose by another name?
just a thorny weed over growin’ the same
and they out on their own and their outta control
and they outta they mind and they outta they soul
and we got stay focused and we gotta keep reachin’
into earth out in the world til it ceases
They call us weeds, they don’t like the way we grow
Try to cut us down, say we tryin’ to take control
only growing...diggin’ in the dirt
pushin’ through the shit, the garbage and the murk
we’re in your backyard
we’re at your schools
we’re in your hoods
wearin’ the truth
We are growing through the pain
We are dandelions, and We are everywhere
Estranged from our roots scattered from our family
kept from the truth makin’ magic from insanity
what we own is insufficient
but we spread it out like it was butter on a biscuit
butter on the concrete, draggin’ on the gravel
they rub it in and tryin’ to drive it home with gavels
I mean edgers, I mean drugs, I mean pesticides
I mean fast food, distractions that anesthetize
I mean the fucked up messages are emphasized
I mean relationships, sex and violence, desensitized
I mean prison, I mean slaves they expect to die
I mean inspect these lies so we can set aside
And move forward with a present mind
Bring our seeds to a plot where they can centralize
on the come up, been workin’ for so long
not to take control just tryin’ to hold on
no home, our seeds ride on the wind
searching for some space where we can begin again
no home, our seeds ride on the wind
searching for some space where we can begin again
They call us weeds, they don’t like the way we grow
Try to cut us down, say we tryin’ to take control
only growing...diggin’ in the dirt
pushin’ through the shit, the garbage and the murk
we’re in your backyard
we’re at your schools
we’re in your hoods
wearin’ the truth
We are growing through the pain
We are dandelions, and We are everywhere
We are being trampled under foot
We are systematically poisoned and uprooted
We are growing through the pain
We are dandelions, and We are everywhere

Jim Morrison, seein’ through the doors
Livin’ in the moment, that’s what truth is for
Time keeps slippin’ seein’ to the core
Wrestle with ideas, about the struggle like a luchador
Y si sigue listen to what see dice
I breathe deeply and speak it just to relieve the triste
Or dig into it and come out on the other side
Misery of darkness see the light of day and run and hide
it’s too foreign, too strange and alien
they’d rather stick with what they know and feel the pain again
comfortable confusion hidin’ from the light of day
in a hide a way around the corner just a smile away
from getting’ frightened and runnin’ the mind is miles away
don’t wanna make decisions goin’ with what simon say
knock on the window leave an invite for another day
Plantin’ seeds for future tree that you can climb and come away
Why stay inside tryin’ focus on the bad and the pain?
I’m writin’ lines that be capturin’ the light of the day
I’ve lived a thousand lives tryin’ to lead to the light of the way
And that could change but it isn’t gonna happen today
That trees reachin’ to the seeds splittin’
Pushin’ for the future, that’s what see’s spittin’
It’s been told and been rewritten
Optimistic to the point that they like “he’s kiddin’”
I’m the alchemist chillin’ like “Maktub”
still practical enough to tell the babies “achtung”
Realist --- half full/half empty
This is what we got either way – can’t test me
Can’t tempt me with the arguments that land gently
Full of deceit that’s misleading and deadly
Yo… It’s the poison of the consciousness
It turns words to white noise and silences
Listen to the quiet mind and what silence says
Unless it isn’t you and that voice condescends
This isn’t common sense don’t be mad if you don’t know it
Just open up and to know the ledge and go for it
Trichknowledge on the prowl tryin’ to keep you down
All around propaganda can be found here and now
Make your worst enemy their own worst enemy
That’s us get out your head and turn the tendencies
Why stay inside tryin’ focus on the bad and the pain?
I’m writin’ lines that be capturin’ the light of the day
I’ve lived a thousand lives tryin’ to lead to the light of the way
And that could change but it isn’t gonna happen today
